Gus keeps a running list on his phone of the things the kids have said/say that we never want to forget. I keep thinking there has to be a cool way to display some of their "isms" in art-form ... on a canvas or decorative plate. Maybe one day! For now, here are just a few of our favorites.

[1] Matthew - "hold you" ... all of the kids have said this, but Matthew started it. Hollis still says it, and it remains one of the cutest requests after all these years.
[2] Hudson - "two kisses and two hugs" ... we have no idea where he got this, but he started saying it when he was probably 3 years old. At bedtime and goodbyes, this became his universal request. It should be embroidered on a pillow :)
[3] Eli - "backy-back ride" for piggy back ride & "regally milk" for regular milk.
[4] Hollis - "two ones" ... whenever asking for a pretzel or chip, etc. One is not enough!

I missed last Friday's post because I was in Savannah enjoying a girl's [aka: bachelorette] weekend. I'll likely post about that soon. In the meantime, here are a few of my favorites associated with that weekend ...

[2] Anthropologie "homegrown monogram mug" given by one of the bridesmaids - love love.
[3] Sun Bum sunscreen also given by the bride - this smells soooo good, and I can't wait to use it.
[4] Gianni Bini pumps I bought [for only $31 on clearance!] for our night out on the town.

With this being the last Friday in January, and the fact that a lot of people have health + fitness on the brain this month, here are my very favorite workouts to do indoors ...

[1] "Love Your Body with Kettlebells"... I use a 10 pound hand weight instead.
[2] Bikini Arms workout ... love this because I can follow along on my laptop while watching TV.
[3] "The Best Ab Routine" ... this is a workout I totally despise doing, but feel great afterwards.
[4] "Love Your Body With HIIT" workout ... all you need is a mat or carpet!

[1] Steve Madden "Nyrvana" quilted booties ... i was so excited to snag these at 40% off after Christmas!
[2] Gray Away spray from CVS ... i heavily rely on this every month to cover my grey roots in between hair color appointments.
[3] Fitbit Flex in slate ... This was one of my faves a couple of months ago, and i almost bought this at Target last night until I realized my coupon was for a different style. On my wishlist now more than ever :)
[4] Tyler Perry's Medea's Witness Protection movie ... i know these Medea movies have been around a long time, but we just discovered them last weekend. So funny. We're watching this one tonight!

Since we are traveling, here are my favorite things about a road trip ...
[1] really good conversation with Gus while the kids are zoned in on movies. 
[2] being able to catch up on email & text responses. 
[3] the joy of just sitting and riding after being non-stop all day preparing to leave. 
[4] planning our route around a pit stop @ Starbucks :)

[1] The Celebrity Apprentice .... so excited this show is back on again.
[2] Little Owl's Night ... Hollis received this precious + pretty book for Christmas, and we have loved reading it over and over again.
[3] TOMS for Target tee ... this made my list of favorite Christmas gifts I received. [p.s. the entire TOMS line is now on clearance!]
[4] Quilted slippers from the Gap ... hooray for cute and comfy slippers that, most importantly, don't make my feet sweat :)

[1] Fixer Upper on HGTV ... I've had 3 friends tell me about this show over the past few months, and I finally caught a marathon of it this week. Looovve it. Totally solidified my desire for acreage + a farmhouse.
[2] Tone It Up website ... I discovered these trainers about a year ago, and love their effective [and free!] workouts, as well as nutrition tips. I especially love how they post a weekly workout schedule every Sunday to keep things interesting + fun.
[3] It's All Good cookbook by Gwyneth Paltrow ... Gus gave me this for Christmas last year, and I love how it educated me on "clean eating." It's a good time of year to pull this one out again. Plus, every recipe I've tried has been delicious.
[4] Henderson Park Inn in Destin, Fla. ... sooo hope we will go back for our 13th anniversary next month :)

[1] Gift cards ... I always love receiving these for Christmas, always.
[2] The state of our family room at the moment ... normally this would cause my head to spin, but not this time of year :) Right now it represents fun times with our favorite little people.
[3] Joules "field welly" rain boots ... Since we had a crazy amount of rain the three days before Christmas, I've been thinking how I really need to replace my current boots that have holes in them.
[4] Christmas Eve service ... Growing up, we spent half our Christmases in Atlanta with my Mom's side of the family. I love the memories of going to my aunt & uncle's church for their Christmas Eve service. Since our church doesn't have a service, we went to St. Peter's Anglican church in Tallahassee this Christmas Eve. I loved it. I loved the formality, the songs, the sermon, and my favorite ... the entire congregation singing Silent Night by candlelight on our knees.

I couldn't fathom the Christmas season without music, so today it's all about songs...

[1] "Little Town" by Amy Grant ... this makes me think of Christmases growing up.
[2] "O Holy Night" by Josh Groban ... what a voice.
[3] "Have A Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives ... we all love this, and the boys have been known to request this at bedtime well after Christmas :)
[4] "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey ... this one is a little embarrassing to admit because I don't consider myself a Mariah fan, but I have loved this song since high school when I had a big crush on my now-husband :)

[1] "The Night Before Christmas" ... LOVE this.
[2] Christmas cards ... Once Thanksgiving is over, there is a whole new thrill that comes with checking the mailbox. [for me anyway!] Probably sounds a little silly, but I loooovve opening Christmas cards.
[3] Elf movie ... One of the best Christmas movies ever created in my opinion :)
[4] Dinner plates from Pottery Barn Kids ... I called around to several stores after Christmas last year to buy a few sets of these. I adore the vintage look.

[1] Dancing With the Stars ... This is the first time I've gotten into this show, & now I can't wait for next season! Alfonso [aka: Carlton] was an amazing dancer & deserved that win, big time.
[2] DisneyWorld ... Little do our kids know, we are surprising them with an early Christmas present trip to Disney soon!!! Cannot wait.
[3] Brookside chocolates ... amazing + addictive.
[4] "A Baby Changes Everything" by Faith Hill ... I first heard this a few years ago and immediately added it to my long list of favorite Christmas songs.
